Who owns the curve theatre

In , less than a year after the first performances in the new building, an Audit Commission judged that it did "not represent good value for money" and criticised "weak project management arrangements at the start of the project. Fiona Allen, chief executive of the Curve, argued that the comments were not reflective of the theatre's artistic output and organisation practices.

Under the leadership of Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, Curve has developed a reputation for producing, programming and touring a bold and diverse programme of musicals, plays, new work, dance and opera. All of this is presented alongside a dynamic mix of community engagement, artist development and learning programmes, which firmly places audiences, artists and communities at the heart of everything we do.

We are a registered charity number and this supports our work with people of all ages and backgrounds, enabling them to access, participate in and learn from the arts, nurturing new and emerging talent and creating outstanding, award-winning theatrical experiences.

Unlike any other theatre in the UK, we have no traditional backstage area. We are dedicated to making and programming world class performances for everyone who lives, works and learns in our unique city and beyond. Before Curve was built, disused and abandoned buildings including Urray House originally built for a cloth merchant and Stafford House a former knitwear factory , occupied the space.

Construction began in and the building was officially opened in by Her Majesty The Queen. Curve was seen as a flagship regeneration project for the Cultural Quarter. As a venue, Curve has seen millions come through its doors and its success has placed Leicester firmly on the map as a theatrical destination. All of this is presented alongside a dynamic mix of community engagement and learning opportunities, which firmly places audiences and communities at the heart of everything Curve does. As a registered charity Curve is dedicated to the development of artistic talent in the community, providing a platform for local artists to share their work, enhance their skills and reach wider audiences.
