This older version of Future Trunks is definitely a lot more mature and levelheaded than the passionate teenaged version of Future Trunks that fans were used to, but of course, anyone living in a world as dark as Future Trunks' most likely grows up pretty fast.

While Piccolo looks and acts much older than he is, it's a well-known fact that Namekians mature faster than Earthlings. He may be one of the most "youthful" Z-Fighters around, but mentally he's well beyond his years and after inheriting Kami's knowledge after their fusion, probably beyond Roshi in terms of his aged wisdom.

It's easy to forget that Gohan is so young after seeing him with a wife, daughter, and a successful career. At 23, he's lived a fuller life than most of the other Z-Fighters put together, not to mention that he's surpassed many of them in terms of power, even after going years without serious training. But while he's definitely wise beyond his years, the naive mindset that he's displayed during battles against powerful foes like Cell and Super Buu shows that he still has a lot more living to do.

Trunks is by far one of the youngest and strongest Z-Fighters to date, mastering a standard Super Saiyan transformation by the age of 8. Despite being well into his teenage years by Dragon Ball Super 's finale, he hasn't experienced a growth spurt of any kind just yet. When Future Trunks first traveled to the past, he was actually 14 years of age, an indication that there are either some serious continuity errors within Dragon Ball Super , or his physical transformation could happen any day now.

Like Trunks, Goten seems to be a later bloomer as well. At the youthful age of 13, Goten remains the youngest Z-Fighter to ever exist, and continues to hold the title as the world's youngest Super Saiyan! If only he trained as much as his father did, he'd probably already be the strongest half-blooded Saiyan, and would maybe even be able to give Goku and Gohan a run for their money years down the line.

During the baseball game between Universe 6 and Universe 7, Yamcha takes over pitching after Goku was nearly ejected from the game due to destroying the field and Yamcha debuts a new technique for pitching, the Wolf Fang Pitching Fist, the speed of his Wolf Fang Fist with the controllability of the Spirit Ball and uses it to near effortlessly strike out Universe 6 for the 1st half of set 1, impressing everyone, especially Bulma who begins to flirt with Yamcha again.

When Universe 7 steps up to bat with Yamcha up 1st, who mouths off to Vegeta that he will not lose to him in baseball, Vegeta; who along with Goten were filling in for the missing Hit and Frost of Universe 6, pitches the ball into Yamcha's ribcage and then berates both Yamcha and Bulma for flirting with each other.

However this allows Yamcha to advance to 1st base, shocking Vegeta who is surprised that he's not allowed to hit the opponents. Goku comes up to pitch next and both power up to Super Saiyan Blue. Vegeta pitches as hard as he can and is shocked when Goku begins to overpower his pitch, proclaiming that he put all of his power into it.

When Vegeta begins to fire ki blasts into the ball to give it more power Yamcha makes a break for 2nd, which causes Vegeta to stop attacking Goku and overpowers Vegeta's pitch but is caught out by Botamo who throws the ball to Goten but misses him so Yamcha makes another break to 2nd base but is struck by both Champa and Vegeta at the same time but still made it to the base and allowed to stay due to being attacked.

When Gohan hits the ball Yamcha makes a run to 3rd base but Champa again intervenes and stops Botamo from getting Gohan out and throws the ball at Yamcha, once again hitting him in the spine but Yamcha once again makes it to the base, proclaiming he will not lose at baseball weakly from the ground.

Beerus gets mad at Champa for playing dirty and attacking Yamcha so the two gods begin to fight, with Goku recalling that if two gods of destruction fight all of the universe will be destroyed. Everyone runs to Bulma's shield in an attempt to protect themselves except for Yamcha, who bravely makes a dash for homebase during the ki barrage storm that was flying off of Beerus and Champa, which the blasts were destroying the entire area.

Whis and Vados stop the fight, saying that it is taboo for Gods of Destruction to fight one another and called the game off saying Universe 7 won. When Champa asked why Vados points to home plate, revealing Yamcha successfully braved the ki barrage storm, winning the game for Universe 7, but was coincidentally laying inside the crater near death in exactly the same pose from when he was blown up by a Saibaman many years ago.

Krillin, Gohan and Piccolo all pointing it out as a bad memory. Yamcha weakly says that he is going to take a different kind of walk off and collapsed from his injuries. Main article: Universe Survival Saga. In the anime, at Capsule Corporation , Yamcha comes to visit right after Bulla is born and he asks to hold her. However, Bulla starts to cry as he makes a funny face and this enrages Vegeta into turning into Super Saiyan Blue.

Yamcha overhears the conversation of Goku and Gohan about recruiting fighters for the Tournament of Power , and becomes convinced he will be recruited also, and heads home to wait for Goku to ask him. Yamcha is later seen at his house , rehearsing his lines of initially refusing to join them; and then show up at the last minute, all the while still waiting for Goku. He and Puar are seen watching television in his bed, until Master Roshi and Oolong arrive.

Yamcha thinks Roshi is inviting him to join the team. The Turtle Hermit asks for Yamcha to tell Puar to transform into a young woman in order to overcome his perverted antics for the Tournament of Power; in the meantime Yamcha asks Oolong if he is still getting recruited and the latter responds with a "maybe". Yamcha mentions that the universe's fate is in their hands.

However, Goku brought Frieza as the tenth warrior. In addition to playing baseball, Yamcha still trains martial arts occasionally just in case of emergency.

After the Tournament of Power ended and with the erased Universes restored, Yamcha and Puar are seen at the victory party held at Capsule Corp. He brings a teddy bear as a gift for Bulla. During the two month preparation against Moro and his crew, Yamcha was recruited by the Galactic Patrol, alongside the other Z-Fighters to help defend the Earth.

Sensing the chaos from around the world, Yamcha goes off on his own after tracking the enemies ki , he notices a squad of Galactic Patrolmen following him and leads them. Later in the city, Yamcha easily defeated and subdued three members of Moro Corps', before heading off after tracking another source of ki energy, which turns out to be Zauyogi.

After being beaten around by the Brigade advisor, he finds assistance from Tien and Chiaotzu, who join the fight alongside him, but even together, the trio struggle against their opponent. Fortunately, Goku suddenly teleports to their location and intercepts Zauyogi's attack before preceding to take him down with a single blow. Goku asks him if they were the ones who defeated the other escaped prisoners that were there, and Yamcha confirms that that is the case.

Yamcha thanks Goku for the help and tells him that the others may need his help next. During the final battle between Goku and Moro, when Goku is having his energy drained, Yamcha and the others give their energy to Vegeta so that he can pass it on to Goku in an attempt to revitalise him.

After one final push, owed to Uub , Goku defeats Moro once and for all. Yamcha and the rest of his friends celebrate their hard earned victory afterwards with a feast at Satan House. Yamcha is said farewell to by Goku, just before he takes off with Uub to his village to train him.

The plan fails due to Goku showing his purity by riding the Nimbus cloud and Yamcha retreats after Bulma gets close to him. The desert bandit rides up the castle walls with the Silverstar 4 while simultaneously avoiding gunfire. At the top, Yamcha effortlessly simultaneously defeats six of King Gurumes' soldiers with nunchucks and then runs into a room full of blood rubies.

Yamcha and Puar stuff their pockets with rubies and while exiting come across Oolong and Bulma. There is no time to say hello as an armed Pasta bursts into the scene and riddles Yamcha's chest with bullets seemingly killing him to Puar's distress. Raven points her gun towards Bulma but Yamcha sweep kicks her as Blood rubies pour out of his shirt. He easily disarms Raven, but refuses to fight after seeing her gender.

Undeterred Raven pulls out her grenades and starts tossing them after the gang causing the hallway to fall apart. The grenades caused a huge boulder to head down in Bulma's direction, acting fast Yamcha jumps up and catches it. In gratitude for saving her Bulma gives Yamcha a big hug making the shy rogue blush and scream.

Yamcha later watches with Bulma as the Dragon Balls come together and Penny wishes to get rid of the Blood rubies. Yamcha realizes he no longer needs to wish away his fear of girls and hooks up with Bulma.

Main article: Dragon Ball: Sleeping Princess in Devil's Castle Yamcha appears in the film as Bulma's boyfriend and Goku's friend likely continuing from the previous movie. After hearing from Roshi that he sent Goku and Krillin off to Devil's Castle , Yamcha and the others head there in a helicopter. Near the castle, their helicopter is attacked by demons and crashes.

Yamcha, Puar and Oolong wake up inside the castle. In an effort to rescue Bulma from getting her blood drained, using the transforming abilities of the latter, they disguise themselves as demons but are caught when Oolong's transforming ability gives away. They are then stuck in a stone wall along with Goku, Krillin, and Launch.

When Goku breaks them out by turning into his Great Ape form, Yamcha and Puar cut his tail to ensure everyone's safety. They reach Lucifer , and Yamcha takes out an ax equipped Igor to rescue Bulma. Main article: Dragon Ball: Mystical Adventure. Yamcha appears helping Bulma in her search for the Dragon Balls located in Mifan , though Yamcha is more interested in entering the World Martial Arts Tournament located there, having always wanted to enter like in the main series. Yamcha defeats a giant called Gregor and moves on to face Bora in the semi finals.

At first the fight is even with Yamcha dodging all of Bora's blows and Bora blocking Yamcha's strikes, but Master Roshi distracts Yamcha, causing him to cease his dodging and allowing Bora to knock him out of the ring.

Yamcha does not appear again until later in the movie when Bulma is cornered by Mifan troops, Yamcha rushes in and pushes her out of the way of the Crane Hermit's Dodon Ray. Unfortunately while Yamcha got them both to safety, Bulma's Dragon Balls dropped into an ocean crevice. Fortunately, Goku finds a way around this and Yamcha is present at Bora's revival.

Similar to the show Yamcha attacks Goku who is not hungry in this version after he demands all the capsules and money they have and is winning the fight but flees upon seeing Bulma due to his girl phobia. His affection for Bulma is more obvious with Puar getting him to admit she is all that is on his mind.

The bandits follow the gang north to icy weather by Muscle Tower , missing the desert heat Yamcha and Puar go into a cave to warm up with a family of bears. Still spying on them as they meet Roshi, Yamcha upon hearing about the Dragon Balls realizes with them 'he could get rid of his phobia and "be with Yamcha attempts a rescue by sneak attacking General Blue, Bulma is so excited to see Yamcha that she yells at to him making the Desert Wolf freeze and lose his cover, both him and Puar are captured with everyone else.

While in prison with the Gang, Yamcha mostly gets over his anxiety around Bulma, connecting with her and even sharing an accidental kiss after an explosion rocks the prison. As Shenron appears, Yamcha willingly gives up his wish, as he and Bulma look into each other's eyes.

Yamcha flies his new ship until it is destroyed by Amond. He goes to Goku's house and tells his friends about what happened. They try to uproot the tree but they're unsuccessful. The heroes face the Turles Crusher Corps. Yamcha fires his Spirit Ball at Cacao. His attack cause no damage to Cacao, they fight hand-to-hand until the henchman beats Yamcha. Yamcha appears once again with the others to defend Goku against Turles while he is trying to form a Spirit Bomb but is quickly taken down.

After the Tree of Might is destroyed, Yamcha joins everyone on a camping trip. Above the arena platform, Yamcha is seen lying down on one of the large poles, disheartened and disinterest in taking part after realising that his more powerful friends are competing. Down below, Doskoi backhands another fighter into the pole, causing Yamcha to slide off and fall into the water where he is disqualified.

Yamcha appears once again along with Tien, when they go to the Battle Zone to help Gohan against Bojack's gang. Yamcha faces Bido and Zangya and fights against them but is quickly defeated. I only count six Dragon Balls.

Four years after Majin Buu 's defeat, Yamcha is invited to Bulma's birthday party alongside the other Z-Fighters and their friends. Yamcha is enjoying the party. Beerus eventually gets angered by Majin Buu because he didn't share his pudding. Yamcha doesn't take part in the fight against Beerus and is evacuated by Krillin alongside the other guests to safety.

When Beerus challenged Oolong to a rock-paper-scissors match, Yamcha gives Oolong a plan: he told Oolong that Beerus thought he was just a pig with hooves who didn't have fingers.

Yamcha speculated that Beerus would use paper, so to counter this, Oolong used scissors. However Beerus heard the entire plan and proceeded to attempt to destroy the Earth. In the end, Beerus beats Goku, but doesn't destroy Earth and goes home. He was later killed when Frieza blew up the Earth. This event is however reversed by Whis doing his Temporal Do-Over technique. Yamcha is among the group attending Mr. Satan 's party. He sits on the sidelines during the battle against Abo and Kado because it was decided that they were weak enough that Goten and Trunks would be enough to defeat them.

After Aka unleashes his Super Destructive Energy Wave, Yamcha himself briefly enters the action and uses a Spirit Ball to destroy the top of a large building that was about to crush Bulma, Puar and Oolong, as well as various pieces of rubble.

Despite having apparently given up on fighting, he is shown to be wearing his gi under his suit. While Yamcha does not appear to use one of his Wolf Fang techniques, his aura still makes him appear as a wolf. Main article: Yamcha Reincarnated. Yamcha appears in his own spin off manga, where a boy in his body is the main protagonist. Once a boy who loved Dragon Ball had an accident and when he woke up he found himself in the body of Yamcha, since then he tries to make Yamcha the best. In the battle against Vegeta and Nappa he saved Yamcha from the Saibaman and he killed all of them, he went to Namek and got his potential unlocked.

Main article: Dragon Ball Xenoverse. During the main story, Yamcha appears during the Attack of the Saiyans in the altered timeline of Age fighting the Dark Magic enhanced Saibamen, Tennenman, and Jinkouman. Yamcha and Tien are killed when a Saibaman self-destructs, though as they both died in the original history regardless that part of history was restored to its proper course and would disappear from history once Chronoa put the scrolls together to restore the proper timeline once the change had been corrected.

Main article: Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. In another altered timeline created by Turles and Lord Slug who had been recruited by the Time Breakers, the Saibamen are not deployed and Dark Nappa confronts the Z Fighters including Yamcha who survives to fight Nappa due to the change. Unfortunately Yamcha is too weak to make a difference despite the arrival of the current Future Warrior.

Yamcha tells Tien not to worry about where the Future Warrior came from recognizing they need all the help they can get to take on their Saiyan adversaries. Eventually they sense Goku on his way but Krillin notices an evil presence following Goku.

Elder Kai reveals to the Future Warrior that whoever it is they are slowing Goku down and notes the others won't last much longer and orders the Future Warrior to go help Goku. While the Future Warrior is helping Goku fight against Turles who is revealed to be the evil presence Krillin sensed, Yamcha is killed fight Nappa along with Tien, Chiaotzu, and Piccolo though again their deaths correct that portion of the timeline and the Future Warrior manages to correct history causing the altered timeline to disappear and the original timeline to be restored despite several anomalies.

The Future Warrior manages to protect them long enough for Mr. Satan to throw Android 16's head to where Gohan is resulting in Gohan's Super Saiyan 2 transformation. However the Supervillain empowered Super Perfect Cell appears after surviving. During the fried egg topping argument with Beerus and Champa, they both reference the baseball match where Yamcha played an important role indicating the saga's events take place after it occurred in the main timeline.

Champa suggests they have another baseball match to settle things but Beerus refuses noting how they almost came to blows last time thus preventing another baseball match between Team Universe 7 and Team Universe 6. Yamcha first appears after he, Krillin, Tien, Chiaotzu, and Yajirobe had completed their training under Kami. Save for Yajirobe, the four fighters decide to go to Blake Bog where Piccolo is training Gohan to challenge Piccolo as he is currently the strongest fighter around.

Piccolo finds Yamcha in the swamp area of Blake Bog and Yamcha challenges him to a fight but is defeated. During the conflict with the Saibamen, the storyline is slightly altered as Yamcha is a support only character, thus Gohan fights the Saibamen with Yamcha as a support. Yamcha is able to defeat the Saibamen like in the original series, but it catches him off guard and kills both itself and Yamcha with its Self Destruct Tien's fight with the Saibamen first is omitted.

However Gohan finds a terrified Oolong in front of the Capsule Corporation. He asks what is wrong and Oolong reveals that he saw what he believes to be Yamcha's Ghost walking around in West City. This leads to the Sub Story " Yamcha's Alive?! Gohan is unsure if Oolong actually saw Yamcha's Ghost and decides to investigate how Yamcha could be alive when he saw him die fighting the Saibaman. Gohan goes in search of the supposed ghost. He finds Yamcha but he appears completely fine and completely alive he has no Halo or ghostly tail talking to a girl he is apparently dating.

However something seems off about Yamcha and Gohan decides to follow him discreetly. He sees Yamcha had another girlfriend whom he is also dating who notes Yamcha has changed and isn't as fun, though Yamcha says he'll do better next time. He finds Yamcha again meeting a third girlfriend. Unfortunately this girlfriend's ex-boyfriend shows up. The girlfriend reveals her ex has been stalking her and he summons three Skull Robo Type 1 to attack Yamcha who uncharacteristically is not eager to fight them forcing Gohan to come to his rescue.

Gohan's inhuman strength scares off the ex-boyfriend and Yamcha's girlfriend. Gohan checks on Yamcha who reveals himself to actually be Puar in disguise. Puar explains that they were trying to keep up appearances that Yamcha was alive and well to his many girlfriends who were unaware of his death. Eventually Krillin shows up as he had a message from Yamcha to give to Puar. Krillin reveals that during their training at the Lookout, Yamcha gave Krillin a message to give to Puar if something happens to him.

At first it seems Yamcha wanted Puar to not worry about him, though Krillin then gives Puar the names of some girls he wants Puar to date in disguise for him while he is deceased and Puar dutifully complies. Gohan notes to himself Yamcha's words would have had deeper meaning had it not been for the last part. Gohan returns to Oolong and explains it was just a shapeshifting Puar much to his relief. The narrator explains that Porunga revealed Goku survived and would return on his own, causing them to revive Krillin and Yamcha instead.

If the party visits his old hideout in Diablo Desert portion of the Southeast Mountains Area, and Yamcha is in the party he will stand next to the door of the hideout. There are two Sub Stories that require Yamcha to not be in the player's party as Yamcha plays a role in both.

During the intermission, there are also two Sub Stories received from Puar that feature Yamcha. If Gohan talks to Puar Yamcha cannot be in his party in West City, Puar says his curiosity is killing him and after noticing Gohan, he asks him to do a small favor.

He reveals its about Yamcha, who having since come back to life has been really enjoying himself, though Puar is really worried about his dating situation and hopes things are going well for him. Gohan is sure Yamcha is pretty good at dealing with the dating stuff.

Gohan asks where he can find Yamcha and Puar says he thinks Yamcha is on a date with his girlfriend Sapphire and thus is probably somewhere on the road northeast of West City. Gohan finds Yamcha with Sapphire who tells her he had an awesome day while she calls him dreamy, with Yamcha saying he's only dreamy cause he's with her, while thinking to himself he is living the good life, and has been going on dates with hot girls everyday and that he feels so alive.

Unfortunately for Yamcha, he and Sapphire are approached by another one of his girlfriends Pearl who angrily calls Yamcha a sleazeball and asks what the hell he is doing with her. Sapphire asks Yamcha who Pearl is only for Pearl to state she is Yamcha's girlfriend and asks Sapphire who she is causing Sapphire to declare she is Yamcha's girlfriend.

Yamcha thinks to himself that he didn't expect this to happen but that he should be able to talk his way out of the situation, noting that he did train under King Kai believing he can handle anything. Sapphire asks Yamcha to explain himself and Pearl says he told her that he only had eyes for her. Yamcha tries to tell them to calm down and that he'll clear things up, noting that they are both very special to him and says he doesn't think its fair to, only be cut off by both women, with Sapphire realizing he was dating Pearl behind her back while Pearl realizes he's been cheating on her by dating Pearl.

Panicking, Yamcha tries to suggest that they get some ice cream and sort this whole thing out, but both women say not a chance. Yamcha admits he didn't think it would work. Sapphire says she had no idea Yamcha was a cheater, while Pearl says she hates him. Yamcha asks what they are doing with capsule robots and they explain they got them for self defense and they were defending themselves as an excuse to take out their anger on Yamcha.

Yamcha remembers he had previously gotten the girls capsule robots powered up at the Capsule Corporation and notes he's in trouble now, though he thinks if the fight goes in his favor, then he might get back on their good sides. Realizing Yamcha has bitten off more than he can chew, Gohan elects to lend Yamcha a hand in dealing with the robots.

Yamcha thinks he nailed it and that he is so awesome it's kinda scary. Unfortunately, Yamcha hasn't gotten over his cockiness, as he fails to notice one of the Skull Robo Type 3 is still functional and despite Gohan's attempts to warn him, the robot grabs him from behind and initiates is Self Destruct not unlike the Saibaman who had previously taken Yamcha's life with Yamcha taking on even the same pose. Pearl says she can't believe that happened and calls Yamcha a loser, while Sapphire thinks his pose is lame, though Gohan is horrified due to being reminded of his previous death.

Pearl says she is so over Yamcha and Sapphire agrees stating there are plenty of better guys out there. Pearl then invites Sapphire to have some ice cream together and Sapphire agrees, with the two ladies ignoring Gohan and Yamcha lying on the ground.

Puar arrives just as the girls are leaving and tells Yamcha not to die on him. However Yamcha reveals he's still alive and stands up, telling Puar he's much stronger now, declaring as a former student of King Kai, he can't let something like Self Destruction kill him. Puar says that's his Yamcha and says he's still the coolest guy around. As a result, like Bulma before them, Pearl and Sapphire both break up with Yamcha due to his cheating ways and having lost all interest due to the situation with the self destructing robot.

Outside of Capsule Corp, Gohan finds Puar who reveals he's waiting for Yamcha, who said he was going to change into a more battle-ready outfit despite the fact that he was wearing his Gi during the previous Sub Story. Yamcha comes out wearing his Turtle School Gi and noticing Gohan says his timing is perfect and asks if he'll take him on in a little sparring match. Gohan is surprised Yamcha wants to fight him and he reminds Gohan that he trained under King Kai after he died fighting against the Saiyans and that he hasn't really had the chance of showing off what he learned and it's like he went through that brutal training for nothing and that he's a lot stronger now.

Gohan thinks to himself that Yamcha sounds pretty frustrated. Yamcha says he bet he could have done some real good on Namek and since Gohan was there he bets that Gohan would be a great judge of his strength and that's why he wants to fight him. This leads to the Sub Story, which consists of a one-on-one battle between Gohan and Yamcha. Gohan agrees and says he's willing to help in anyway he can and Yamcha thanks him for agreeing to his request.

In order to avoid wrecking the Capsule Corporation and West City, the two then travel to one of the beaches south of the city. Puar wishes Yamcha good luck and the match begins. Predictably, Gohan defeats Yamcha who is dejected by the loss, believing he should be better than this.

Gohan however says he's better than he thinks, as Gohan reveals that he had Guru unlock some of his hidden power, but Yamcha still feels sorry for himself. Puar asks if Yamcha is alright as he looks exhausted and in pain. Puar asks if he should get some medicine though Yamcha reiterates that he is fine and admits that this sucks, and he can't this is the best he can do after all his hard work training under King Kai.

Puar fed up with Yamcha feeling sorry for himself, snaps and tells Yamcha not to talk like that and reminds him of how they first met when Yamcha risked his life to protect him when he was being attacked by a pterosaur. Puar says he's the coolest, bravest guy he knows and that he should be more confident in himself. Yamcha agrees while thinking to himself, the only reason he did was because he thought Puar's screams were coming from a damsel in distress.

However hearing Puar's story impresses Gohan, who says he had no idea he did that for Puar and that he really is a great guy. Yamcha reverts back to his cocky attitude calling himself a man of action in times of need. This unlocks the " Secrets of Puar 1 " section of Puar's Z Encyclopedia Character entry which adds the story of how Puar and Yamcha first met, including Yamcha mistakingly believing Puar's screams were from a beautiful damsel in distress, though adds that the two have been best friends ever since.

At the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament , Yamcha makes it past the elimination rounds and defeats most ordinary martial artists including Fighter Yamcha fights Jackie Chun in the quarter finals, who dodges all of his attacks with little effort.

Jackie Chun easily defeats Yamcha with a kiai. However, See-Through's only advantage is being invisible and he is easily defeated by Yamcha when he becomes visible thanks to Roshi's nose bleed. In turn, Yamcha is defeated easily by Bandages the Mummy , who dodged all of his attacks including the Wolf Fang Fist. After Baba's Tournament, Roshi begins training Yamcha as his pupil.

He is again defeated in the quarter finals, this time by Tien Shinhan , who also cripples him. However, Yamcha managed to put up a good fight against Tien, who was equal in strength to Goku at the time.

In the anime, Yamcha is confronted by Tambourine in the King Piccolo Saga , managing to be somewhat competitive against the demon assassin. However, he is hindered by his broken leg, and ultimately spared from being killed by Tambourine when King Piccolo calls on Tambourine to find Cymbal 's killer.

In the manga, Tambourine and Yamcha didn't fight, but Tambourine was going to kill Yamcha next and didn't because he got the message Cymbal had been killed. In the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament, Yamcha is defeated in the quarter finals by Hero , who was really a human possessed by Kami.

Kami tells Yamcha that he has great potential and was impressed by his Spirit Ball technique, but he needed to improve on his focus and defense. In the beginning of Dragon Ball Z , Yamcha's power level is calculated as by the scouter used by Bulma. After training at Kami's Lookout for a year, his power level is 1, At that time, even though he is proven to be stronger than a Saibaman, he could not save himself from the suicidal Saibaman Bomb attack which killed him albeit Yamcha had his back turned and was caught off-guard, due to his overconfidence in believing the creature to be dead.

Afterwards, in the Other World, Yamcha trains under King Kai, and in the anime, when joining forces with Tien and Chiaotzu, together they are shown strong enough to give a hard time to Piccolo.
